WHAT WE INSTALL

How Heat-Rejection Film Helps Your Home

Residential window film can reduce solar heat gain through existing glass, helping sun-exposed rooms feel more comfortable without the cost and disruption of replacing the windows. Performance varies by film, glass type, exposure, and whether the film is installed on the interior or exterior.

The best film is not always the darkest. High-clarity options such as 3M Prestige and high-end architectural nano-ceramic films can improve comfort while preserving natural light and exterior views. The right choice balances heat rejection, glare control, fade reduction, appearance, glass compatibility, and coastal exposure.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Heat Rejection Film FAQ

How much heat does residential window film reject?

Selected solar-control films can reject up to 80% of total solar energy, depending on the film, glass, and application. Selected 3M Prestige films separately publish 97% infrared energy rejected. Those are different performance measurements and should not be treated as the same number.

Will heat-rejection film make my windows look dark?

Not necessarily. 3M Prestige multilayer optical films and high-end ceramic films are separate product families, and both include high-clarity options. Sea Cool recommends a film after considering the glass, exposure, daylight, exterior appearance, and comfort goal.

Does window film help protect furniture from fading?

Yes. Most solar-control films block up to 99% of UV rays, and selected Prestige options publish more than 99.9% UV rejected. UV reduction helps slow fading, but heat, visible light, material type, and age also matter, so no film can eliminate fading.

How long does residential window-film installation take?

Installation timing depends on window count, size, access, film, and glass condition. Sea Cool will outline the expected schedule after reviewing the project. Temporary moisture or haze can appear while film cures, and the installer will explain what to expect for the selected film and conditions.

Is heat-rejection film suitable for coastal homes?

Metal-free options, including 3M Prestige, avoid metallic layers and can be a strong fit for coastal applications. The final recommendation still depends on the selected film, glass type, installation side, and exposure.

What warranty comes with residential heat-rejection film?

Warranty coverage depends on the selected film, manufacturer, glass, and project conditions. Sea Cool will identify the applicable manufacturer-backed warranty and the installation requirements for eligibility.
